From sweetafton23, an endearing Christmas song...

A couple of Christmas songs to round things out...

A lovely version of Carol of the Bells by The Bird and The Bee, and a great drony, lazy, jangly version of First Noel by American Heart...

Worried that zombies may ruin your best laid plans this Christmas season? Not to fret! Here are some helpful tips on the subject...
A very late breaking development out of Tolland!

Eric also has a need for a good pair of ski gloves, which can also be found (along with his previously requested boot bag) at New England Ski...

It's not too late! It's never too late! Jordan would like a Mr. Beer Home Brew kit for Christmas...

Here's the Editors with a live acoustic version of "Let It Snow..."

And here's the splendid She & Him live on Conan O'Brien with "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

We're nearly done...Alexa just wanted to post her requests here...she'd be quite content with gift cards from any of Forever 21, Pac Sun, or (her fave) Urban Outfitters...

Have not yet heard from Jordan...

Gerry is up, and for that matter so am I...

Gerry keeping it straightforward as ever would like a Dremel attachment kit (I think this might need some further clarification, but see what the linked list might do for the secret Santa...he'd like the grinders and polishers, etc.

As for me, well you might have guessed this was coming...I'm jumping on the very gentlemanly bandwagon of a selection of decent quality red wines...6 or so bottles (no merlot)...and if I happened to find a decent gerwurtztraminer in the mix, let's just say I wouldn't be upset. I like the red blends and cabernets otherwise...

Here's Five Iron Frenzy with "You Gotta Get Up! (It's Christmas Morning)".
OK, let's get this wrapped up (ha - see what I did there? "Wrapped up?...").

Ryan has a need for ammo...223 ammo to be precise, and why not. It's not going to go bad and ammo and canned beans will see you through all manner of dark days, including the zombie apocalypse...I think you need to get clarification on the caliber firearm he's using the ammo for so you can be sure to get the right brand. He also needs a pair of business casual khaki slacks, 36 x 36, because you want to look sharp when you're dealing with the zombies...he'd also be fine with a Cabela's gift card, or a Dick's gift card...

He'd also like Dragonlance books, and you may have to get these via Amazon. Specifically:
Dwarf Home Trilogy:
The Secret of Pax Tharkas (November 2007), by Douglas Niles, (ISBN 0-7869-4789-6)
Heir of Kayolin (October 2008), by Douglas Niles, (ISBN 0-7869-5003-X)
The Fate of Thorbardin (January 2010), by Douglas Niles
Ergoth Trilogy:
Warrior's Journey (May 2003), by Paul B. Thompson and Tonya C. Cook, (ISBN 0-7869-2965-0)
The Wizard's Fate (February 2004), by Paul B. Thompson and Tonya C. Cook, (ISBN 0-7869-3214-7)
A Hero's Justice (December 2004), by Paul B. Thompson and Tonya C. Cook, (ISBN 0-7869-3397-6)
Kingpriest Trilogy:
Chosen of the Gods (November 2001), by Chris Pierson, (ISBN 0-7869-1902

And on that note...here's my main crooner Freedy Johnston with his unplugged version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas".
OK, time for two more...and then the rest this evening.

Kim would like a jewelry armoire as shown right here. You can order online, but you may be able to get it at the store...

And that brings us to Oma, who has a few wishes...she'd like a new heavy duty iron, one that puts out some serious voltage. She'd also like a new ivory colored scarf, and would also enjoy some warm mittens (not gloves). Lastly, she'd certainly be able to enjoy a gift certificate to her hair salon, Hair By Design...

And here's Sara Groves with a fine rendition of "Angels We Have Heard On High"......Too mellow? Well then try this version from Bayside..

The Christmas wish lists are coming in fast and furious now, so I'm going to do one big post...

Let's start with Ellen, who during Holland's World Cup run realized she had a dearth of Oranje gear. It's hard to find orange Holland clothing on short notice between major international competitions, but go here for some ideas - scroll through and perhaps you'll find something appropriately orangey. You could also contact these guys and ask what they might have. Ladies size medium will do the trick.

Alternatively, she has a need for a new Huskies sweatshirt...this one, in fact. Again, ladies size medium...

Next up Tom...who again goes with the tried and true red wine...6 or so bottles, decent quality, and he'sd like it noted that he was the original progenitor of the idea of finding wine under the tree. Some suggestions here...

Next in, Eric...who has a need for a ski boot bag...word is New England Ski has them on sale...

(Morghan also needs a ski boot bag, by the way...)

Ashley is up next, and she would love a Calphalon stainless pan. She already has a pretty complete set of nonstick, but she needs a good pan for searing and saute-ing...10- or 12-inch, either saute pan (flat bottom, straight sides) or a frying pan (note that Calphalon sometimes calls them "omelette pans"). And if it happens to come with a smaller bonus pan, well I'm sure she can live with that!
These pans can be found at TJ Maxx and Marshall's at big discounts. (Which is how she managed to accrue a full set of nonstick!) If not there, Le Gourmet Chef also carries them...however, I'd start here and see what you can find...

More to follow this evening...in the meantime check out Julian Casablancas "I Wish It Was Christmas Today"...and also Commander Cody, "Daddy's Drinking Up Our Christmas" (hey, don't judge...I just link!)...and remember these guys? That's right, all you Wang Chung fans!

It's been 63 years since Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play. It's been 30 years (30!!) Sgt. Pepper's been gone...

Added: A John Lennon cover songs playlist!

Sunday, December 05, 2010

Page is up next and she knows exactly what she wants: an LL Bean black ribbed turtle neck, as shown. In black...

Also, she'd like a beach table similar to the one Tom & Ellen use...in fact it's right here! The Nag's Head model, as shown.

And here's Irene with "Christmas on the Beach". Catchy!
Next up is Kerri, and to be fair she submitted her list first. She has a nicely varied and comprehensive list of wishes...

She'd like a Keurig single serve coffee maker or a comparable model - this would be a good place to start and end your search. Alternatively, she could use a Barnes and Noble gift card for her Nook...also, Sonya Dakar products - Deep Pore Clarifying Serum, Acai Clarifying Wash in Clear...she'd also like the new Linkin Park cd, A Thousand Suns...and finally if none of that works for her secret Santa, she'd enjoy a gift certificate to Batik Salon...

And while you're reflecting on all that, give a listen to Half Man Half Biscuit "All I Want For Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit". Brilliant!
For the third year running (or is it four?), it's Christmas wishes!

Up first...it's Mike! He wasn't first with his list, but it's an easy one and so a good place to start. Mike would like a handful of decent quality red wines...as ever, I offer my services. However I think all secret Santa's can have some fun with this request. This seems a good place to get some ideas...

And check it out! Summer Camp offer a charming version of the classic Waitresses song "Christmas Wrapping"...
George? Norm? Is that you??

And may I add, Katerina Witt has aged quite nicely indeed...Tonya Harding? Ah, not so much...
